Welcome to Toledo Handball Cup 2019

Ciudad Imperial Handball Club is proud to present the 8th edition of the Toledo Handball Cup

In a few years, this tournament has become one of the most im¬portant handball events for younger categories in Spain.

Last edition’s Tournament gathered 87 teams, with more than 1,200 players from Spain, Norway, Portugal and Algeria. During 4 days, the more than 1,200 attendees enjoyed not only grassroots handball, but also the beauty of a town that has been declared World Heritage by the UNESCO, and that each year receives hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world.

The tournament takes place in 9 venues located in different neighbourhoods of the town and in beach handball courts.

Dates and number of matches

Toledo Handball Cup 2019 will take place between the 27th to 30th of June, 2019.

  • June 27th: Start of the groups phase matches and beach handball
  • June 28th: Groups phase
  • June 29th: End of groups phase
  • June 30th: Finals and closing

Each participating team will play a minimum of 5 matches in indoor handball category, and a minimum of 4 in beach handball.


Each match will be 30 minutes long, with 2 * 15 minute periods, except in the Knockout Phase (semifinals & final games), where the matches will be 40 minutes long (2* 20 minute periods). In the under 10 category, matches will consist of 4 periods of 6 minutes during the whole tournament.

The matches will be distributed according to the following schedule:

  • Thursday: from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Teams arrived the night before will play during the morning.
  • Friday: from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. non-stop.
  • Saturday: from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. non-stop.
  • Sunday: from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (finals).

Beach handball

Each match will be 20 minutes long, with 2 * 10 minute periods, plus the shoot-out if necessary.

The matches will be distributed according to the following schedule:

  • Thursday: from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Teams arrived the night before will play during the morning
  • Friday: from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Saturday: from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Sunday: from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (finals).


  • Boys U12 (Born 07 and 08)
  • Girls U12 (Born 07 and 08)
  • Boys U14 (Born 05 and 06)

Competition system

The teams in each category will be distributed in different groups, according to the total number of participants.

There will be two phases:

  • 1.- Group Phase. All teams play against all others. League system.
  • 2.- Knockout Phase. Teams classified for Knockout Phase A will play direct knockout matches. Teams playing Knockout Phase B and the following phases will play direct or group knockout matches, according to the number of teams in each category.

Rules and regulation

The Tournament will follow the Regulations of the RFEBM (Spanish Handball Federation), the Regional (Castilla La Mancha) Handball Federation and its own regulations. The Tournament regulations will be published sufficiently in advance in its website

To make it possible for the visiting players and coaches to enjoy the monumental town, in Friday and Saturday the Benjamín (U10), Alevín (U12) and Infantil (U14) categories will play during the mornings (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.), whereas the Cadete (U16) and Juvenil (U18) categories will play during the evenings (3 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.). The organization reserves the right to change the categories that play in the morning and in the afternoon depending on the number of teams registered

Regarding Beach Handball modality the schedules will be prepared so all teams participating in both types of handball can play all the assigned matches.


All teams willing to participate in the Tournament will apply through the website, clicking the link to that effect in the Home page.

Registration will begin as soon as the information for the 2019 Tournament appears in the website (November 2018) and will finish on Jun 1st, 2019, unless corresponding categories are full. Nevertheless, registrations will only be effective after paying the registration fee, plus a deposit of 100 € per team (that will later be deduced from the total payment).

The order of the teams in the waiting list will depend on the date when they have effectively completed the registration process.

The registration fee for the first team is set at fifty euros (€ 50). For reasons unrelated to the organization, this registration fee will not be refunded.

In the event of team reverse their participation before June 10, 2019, the amount of the players' registration will be returned provided that these reverse participation do not exceed 15% of the total number of participants of the club, except in the case of accommodation type "B" , where for reasons external to the organization, cancellation must occur 30 days before the date of entry into the accommodation.

After this date, the organization does not guarantee the return of the full amount of the registration, trying to return in all cases as much as possible.

  • 2 teams: 90€
  • 3 teams: 120€

Prices per player/coach

Category A :

Lodging in a school, high school or sports facility: 117 €

Category B :

Lodging in a Youth Hostel belonging to the National Youth Hostels Network: 149 €

Category C :

Hostels & 2-3 star Hotels, close to most of the sports facilities: 65 €

Category D :

4 star Hotels: 230 €

Category E :

Players/coaches with their own lodging/lunches: 39 €

If any team/club wishes to stay additional days please contact the organization.

There is a fee of 100 € for every team taking part in the tournament at the moment of the inscrip¬tion, which will also cover unlikable damages in the selected lodgings. Should it not be necessary to use it, this amount will be returned through bank transfer at the end of the tournament.

These prices include:

  • 3 nights lodging (breakfast included).
  • Lunch & dinner (from Thursday to Sunday lunch).
  • Indoor sports facilities, matches & refereeing.
  • Matches available in Internet streaming in some courts.
