International Handball Tournament

The registration period is from November 15th, 2021 to June 1st, 2022.

At least 5 games are guaranteed to each participating team in the indoor handball modality and 4 in the beach handball modality.

Team registration

All teams that want to participate must register, regardless of the modality, through the website by clicking on the link that appears on the main page of the website www.toledohandballcup.com.

The registration period will begin on November 15th, 2021, and will end on June 1st, 2022, except in those categories that are full. A team will not be considered registered until they have paid the registration fee plus one hundred euros (€ 100) as a deposit (per team), which will be returned at the end of the Tournament.

The date on which the registration becomes effective will be the one that serves as a reference to choose the participating teams from the waiting list.

The registration fee for the first team is set at sixty euros (€ 60). For reasons beyond the control of the organization, this registration fee will not be returned.

In the case of withdrawals before June 5th, 2022, the amount of player registration will be returned provided that these withdrawals do not exceed 15% of the total number of club participants, except in the case of accommodation type "B" , where for reasons external to the organization, the cancellation must occur 30 days before the date of entry into the accommodation.

After this date, the organization does not guarantee the refund of the full amount of the registration, trying to return as much as possible in any case.

Indoor Handball

Each match will last 30 minutes, divided into two 15-minute halves, except in the final phase A (semi-finals, final and 3rd and 4th place), where each match will last 40 minutes (2 parts of 20 minutes). U12 matches will last 30 minutes throughout the tournament. The schedule of the matches is:

  • Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. In the morning shift, all teams that arrive in the city well in advance can participate (for example, those who arrived the night before).
  • Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

  • AF/U12 (Born in 2010 and 2011)
  • IM/B14 (Born in 2008 and 2009)

Beach Handball

Each match will last 20 minutes, divided into two 10-minute halves, plus the tiebreaker if necessary. The schedule of the matches is:

  • Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. In the morning shift, all teams that arrive in the city well in advance can participate (for example, those who arrived the night before)
  • Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • IMBP/B14 (Born in 2008 and 2009)
  • CMBP/B16 (Born in 2006 and 2007)
  • JMBP/B18 (Born in 2004 and 2005)
  • IFBP/G14 (Born in 2008 and 2009)

Competition system

The teams in each category will be divided into different groups depending on the total number of participants.

The competition will consist of two phases:

  • 1.- Group Phase. In this phase everyone will play against everyone. One-round league system.
  • 2.- Final Phase. Teams that qualify for Final Phase A will play through direct knockout crossovers. The teams that play Final Phase B and successive will play through direct elimination or in groups, depending on the number of teams in their category.

Norms and rules

The rules of the Tournament will be used, those of the RFEBM and the IHF. The Tournament rules will be published well in advance on the Tournament website. In the modality of indoor handball, and in order for players and coaches to enjoy the city, on Thursday and Friday, the categories BM/U10, AM/U12, IM/B14 and IF/G14 will compete their matches in the morning (from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) while the CM/B16, JM/B18, CF/G16 and JF/G18 categories will do so in the afternoon (from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.).

In the beach handball modality, the match schedules will be adapted so that those teams / players that participate in both modalities can play all the matches of the competition.

Other services and trophies

Other services

The tournament organization will subscribe a sports insurance policy to cover possible accidents during the competition. All players will be covered by this policy and its amount will be included in the price of the Tournament, without exception.

All participants will have free transportation between their accommodation, the courts and the food places.

During the Tournament, participants will have free access to the municipal swimming pools.

Physiotherapists will also be available in the courts

During the Tournament he will celebrate at least one parties, one on Wednesday with the presentation of the Tournament.


  • By Categories
    • Both the winning team and the runner-up of each modality will receive as a trophy a typical Toledo steel sword, cast with the same technique that has been made since the Middle Ages.

  • By Clubs
    • Similarly, all those clubs that participate with at least three teams (by modality), will take part in the Club Competition, in which the winning club will receive the "Great Toledan Sword".

All teams will pay a deposit of € 100 to cover possible damage that will be returned to them at the end of the Tournament.

These prices include:

  • Accommodation (breakfast included) for 3 nights.
  • Lunch and dinner (from Wednesday to Saturday).
  • Dinners from Wednesday to Friday. Saturday dinner is optional
  • Indoor playing courts, matches and refereeing.
  • Matches streamed.
  • Free transportation within the city of Toledo to cover the Tournament needs.
  • Accessory pass for the municipal swimming pools of the city of Toledo.
  • Sports medical insurance during the competition
  • 6 1.5-liter bottles of water per team during matches.
  • Physiotherapists on the court.
  • Discount vouchers in shops, museums, and on guided tours of the city.

The prizes for the first two qualified will be a Toledo sword forged by hand in workshops in the city..
