Tournament Information

Important dates

  • November 15th. Registration phase begins.
  • May 31st. End of registration phase.
  • May 15th. First payment deadline for hotels.
  • June 1st. Second payment deadline for all accommodations.
  • June 13th. Deadline for submission of player lists.
  • June 20th. Schedule publication.
  • June 25th. Start of the Handball court.
  • June 26th. Continuation of the group stages.
  • June 27th. Competition break for tours and activities.
  • June 28th. Semi-finals and finals.
  • June 29th. Finals for all categories in the morning until 3:00 PM.

At least 5 matches are guaranteed to each participating team.

Inscription

All teams that want to participate must register, regardless of the modality, through the website by clicking on the link that appears for this purpose on the home page of the website.web www.toledohandballcup.com.

The registration period will begin on November 15, 2023 and end on May 31, 2024, except in those categories that are covered. A team will not be considered registered until it has paid the registration fee plus one hundred euros (€100) as a deposit (per team), which will be returned at the end of the Tournament.

The date on which the registration becomes effective will be the one that serves as a reference to choose the participating teams from the waiting list.

The entry fee for the first team is set at sixty euros (€60). For reasons beyond the control of the organization, this registration fee will not be refunded.

In the event of cancellations before June 1, 2024, the player registration amount will be refunded provided that these cancellations do not exceed 15% of the total number of club participants, except in the case of type "B" accommodation , where for reasons external to the organization, the cancellation must occur 30 days prior to the date of entry into the accommodation.

After this date, the organization does not guarantee the return of the full amount of the registration, trying to return as much as possible in any case..

Calendar and categories

Each match will last 30 minutes, divided into two 15-minute halves, except in the final phase A (semi-finals and final), where each match will last 40 minutes (2 20-minute halves). The matches of the juvenile category will have a duration of 30 minutes throughout the tournament. The schedule of the matches is:

  • Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. In the morning shift, all teams that arrive in the city early enough (for example, those who arrived the night before can participate)
  • Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.h

Competition and norms

Competition System

The teams in each category will be divided into different groups depending on the total number of participants.

The competition will consist of two phases:
  • 1.- Group Phase. In this phase everyone will play against everyone. One-round league system.
  • 2.- Final Phase. Teams that qualify for Final Phase A will play through direct knockout crossovers. The teams that play Final Phase B and successive will play through direct elimination or in groups, depending on the number of teams in their category.

Norms and rules

The rules of the Tournament will be used, those of the RFEBM and the IHF. The Tournament rules will be published well in advance on the Tournament website. In the modality of indoor handball, and in order for players and coaches to enjoy the city, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, the categories BM/U10, AM/U12, IM/B14 and IF/G14 will compete their matches in the morning (from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) while the CM/B16, JM/B18, CF/G16 and JF/G18 categories will do so in the afternoon (from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.).

Other Services

The organization of the Tournament will subscribe to a sports insurance policy to cover possible accidents during the competition. All players will be covered by this policy, and its amount will be included in the price of the Tournament, without exception.

All participants will have free transportation between their accommodations, the game pavilions, and the dining locations.

During the Tournament, participants will have free access to the municipal swimming pools.

Physiotherapists will also be available at the game pavilions.

Disco music every night at the Salto del Caballo venue.

Trophies

  • By categories
    • Both the winning team and the runner-up of each modality will receive as a trophy a typical Toledo steel sword, cast using the same technique that has been used since the Middle Ages.
  • By clubs
    • In the same way, all those clubs that participate with at least three teams (per modality), will take part in the Club Competition, in which the winning club will receive the “Great Toledo Sword”.

All teams will pay a deposit of € 100 to cover possible damage that will be returned to them at the end of the Tournament.


These prices include:

  • Accommodation (breakfast included) for 4 nights.
  • Lunch and dinner (from Tuesday to Saturday).
  • Dinners from Tuesday to Friday.
  • Indoor playing courts, matches and refereeing.
  • Matches streamed.
  • Free transportation within the city of Toledo to cover the Tournament needs.
